What does a 3-row floor mat set actually cover?
A 3-Row Set covers the front footwells, the second row floor and the third row floor. It does not include the cargo area behind the third row. That is a separate product. The confusion is common enough that it is worth laying out all three coverage options piece by piece.
The three coverage options
Front Only
Driver and passenger footwells. Two pieces. This is the option most people default to, and on a car that is mostly driven solo it is the one that gets used. It is also the entry price, starting at $149 USD.
Full Coverage
Front footwells plus the second row floor. The rear piece is a single mat running door to door rather than two separate pads with a strip of exposed carpet between them, which is where most rear floor wear actually happens. Starting at $229 USD.

3-Row Set
Front, second row and third row. The third row piece covers the floor where the rearmost passengers put their feet. Starting at $289 USD.
What is not in any of them
The cargo floor. On a three row SUV, the space behind the third row is a separate surface and it takes a trunk mat, cut to the exact cargo floor of the vehicle with raised edges that keep spills on the mat. It starts at $109 USD and is ordered separately.
This trips people up on vehicles like a Highlander or a Palisade, where the third row and the cargo area look like one continuous floor. They are two different products.
How to know whether your vehicle takes a 3-row set
It depends on the seat layout, and the same nameplate is often sold in more than one. A model offered in both five seat and seven seat versions has two different rear floors, and only the seven seat version has a third row to cover.
The vehicle selector on every product page asks for seat count precisely because of this. Each vehicle page also states, for every seat layout covered, whether the set shipped is a front and rear set or a 3-row set. The fitment database covers seat layouts from 2 to 15 seats, so vans and larger passenger vehicles are handled as well, not just the common five and seven seat cases.
Does a folded third row still need a mat
If the third row is folded flat most of the time and used twice a year, the floor under it still collects whatever slides back there. It is a fair question to answer with your own use: if the seats are permanently down and the space works as an extended trunk, a trunk mat is the more useful purchase than a third row floor piece.

Prices in USD. Every range is built the same way underneath, with an automotive grade leather top surface, a cushion foam core and an anti slip backing. What changes between them is the surface pattern and, in the case of the Dual-Layer, the removable carpet top layer.
Choosing between them
Buy the coverage that matches how the vehicle is used rather than how many seats it has. A three row SUV that carries one person on a commute and a full load twice a year is a Full Coverage vehicle with a trunk mat. A three row SUV doing a school run every morning is a 3-Row Set. The seat count tells you what is available, not what you need.
